I'd also factor in how easy something is to clean and maintain during normal use, not just how it survives a mechanical failure. Sim rigs accumulate dust, and anything with exposed mechanical parts or fabric that's hard to access ends up neglected over time in a way that shortens its practical lifespan even if it never technically breaks.
